What is the ruling on offering congratulations on the occasion of the Hijri new year and saying “Kull ‘aam wa antum bi khayr” or praying for blessing, or sending a card with best wishes for blessings in the new year? Well a year from now one of my friend, a girl, had introduced me to one of her online brother..and we have been talkin online for about a year now. Its not like we have ever talked about anything indecent, we talk in a well respected manner, and he sometimes jokes around,too. We both are aware of our religion..and we know how it is haraam to have girlfriends or boyfriends. Praise be to Allaah. there are names which we are forbidden to use, examples of which are as follows: It is forbidden to use any name which belongs only to Allaah, such as al-Khaaliq (the Creator) and al-Quddoos (the Most Holy), or names which do not befit any except Allaah, such as Malik al-Mulook (King of Kings). Praise be to Allaah.   The Sunnahs that the Muslim should observe on the day of Eid are as follows:  1 – Doing ghusl before going out to the prayer.  It was narrated in a saheeh hadeeth in  al-Muwatta’  and elsewhere that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar used to do ghusl on the day of al-Fitr before going out to the prayer-place in the morning.  Al-Muwatta’  428.  Al- Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said that the Muslims were unanimously agreed that it is mustahabb to do ghusl for Eid prayer.  The reason why it is mustahabb is the same reason as that for doing ghusl before Jumu’ah and other public gatherings.
